Standing Committee Chairman Dares NMMC to Bare Corporators and Officials Stalling Action Against Illegal Hoardings, Hawkers and Structures

September 15, 2008
In the recent Standing Committee meet, NMMC Standing Committee Chairman Sandeep Naik dared the NMMC administration to declare names of corporators stalling action against illegal hawkers, hoardings and structures and to book officials failing to act against them.
During the meet, NMMC Commissioner Vijay Nahata admitted that only 10-20% hoardings paid municipal and ordered action against all unpaid hoardings in 2 days. Both the Chairman and the Commissioner were addressing the issue about parking woes near D Mart mall in Koperkhairane. A member alleged that most parking spaces in basements existed on papers till the Occupancy Certificate was issued and soon after they were converted into go-downs and other commercial use facility. He demanded a subway at the D Mart circle that had schools and colleges in the vicinity and is congested with illegal nurseries, slums and hookah centre and vehicles bringing people to the mall.
